Types of Kidney Donation
There are two ways to get a kidney transplant – through a living donation or through a deceased donation. In the United States, most kidney transplants come from deceased kidney donors.
Life After Transplant
Transplant surgery is a major operation and comes with risks for complications just like any other. Often your new kidney will begin to function immediately, although sometimes it can take several days for it to “wake up” and start working.
